It doesn’t look like Apple left any part of the old Logic untouched, but whether or not that means they’ve stripped away features that professionals rely on (like what happened with Final Cut Pro X) remains to be seen. With Logic Remote, users will be able to control and play with Logic X directly from their iPad. Logic Pro X also features an entirely new Sound Library with an updated loop collection and over 1,500 instrument and effect Patches that make creative use of Track Stacks, Smart Controls, the Arpeggiator and other new plug-ins.Īpple will be releasing a new companion app alongside Logic Pro X for iOS users called Logic Remote (pictured right). Some of the other features that Apple is showing off in Logic Pro X: Nine new MIDI Plug-ins, including a brand new Arpeggiator, new Retro Synths, Vintage Keyboards, and a new Bass Amp Designer: An improved Mixer helps manage mix sessions more efficiently, with increased visibility into signal flow and dynamics and faster ways to manipulate channel inserts. Smart Controls allow you to manipulate multiple plug-ins and parameters with a single move for quick and powerful sound design. Also new is an improved mixer and “Smart Controls”:

Pricing hasn’t changed, as Logic remains at $199 from when it first landed in the App Store, but Apple is including a lot of new features including one it calls ‘Drummer’, described as “a revolutionary new feature that provides a virtual session player that automatically plays along with your song in a wide variety of drumming styles and technique.” Apple is also aiming to do away with clunky third party pitch manipulation software with the introduction of a new feature called Flex Pitch, and is also adding a new Track Stacks feature that will let users easily “organize and collapse multiple tracks into one” for layered work flows. The question is, has Apple stripped away some of the core features professionals rely on, or has it learned from its mistakes with the controversy surrounding Final Cut Pro X? The release of updated app comes with a ton of new features on top of a revamped UI and a new version of MainStage 3. Something that we’ve been expecting for quite sometime is happening today as Apple follows in the footsteps of “Final Cut Pro X” with the release of a brand new version of Logic dubbed “Logic Pro X“.

MainStage 3 is also now live on the App Store. (Hopefully 3.0.5!!!)Ī template for live looping should have following features:ģ) Vocal processing channel strips (Reverb, auto tune, and Vocoder)Ĥ) Output effects channel strips (EQ, Delay, Reverb) So I am campaigning Apple to include a live-looping template in the next release of MainStage. If Apple includes a template for live looping, it will make our life a whole lot easier. Apple MainStage 3 has an excellent library for unbelievable price and it is geared for live-performance, but most of the live loopers are not using MainStage at present.
